OREANDA-NEWS Israel has appointed Simona Halperin as the new ambassador to Russia. The current head of the diplomatic mission, Alexander Ben Zvi, is ending his career and retiring. This was reported by the Israeli Embassy in Russia on its Telegram channel.

The statement also cites the opinion of Ben Zvi, who noted that during the three years of his tenure, relations between Russia and Israel "are developing in a normal way," and in case of contradictions, they are "resolved diplomatically." In addition, the ambassador wished success to the new head of the Galperin diplomatic mission and expressed hope for further strengthening of relations.

Earlier on December 6, Ben Zvi confirmed the information about his retirement. He also stressed that Halperin, who is coming to replace him, is "a very competent successor."
