OREANDA-NEWS  Japan has shifted to the east as a result of a powerful earthquake that occurred the day before. This was reported by the RIA Novosti news agency with reference to the document of the Geospatial Information Management.

The source clarifies that the natural disaster led to a displacement of the earth's crust in the area of the epicenter by about nine centimeters. "At the Higashi-dori 2 electronic geodetic point, located near the epicenter zone, an offset of about nine centimeters in an easterly direction was recorded," the report said.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck northern Japan on Monday at 23:15 local time, a tsunami threat was announced. Over the next 14 hours, the country recorded 14 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 3.6 to 6.4.
