The order was issued on March 2 and signed by the Deputy Chief Commissioner (Commander) of the Immigration Police, Major General Thanit Thaivatcharamat.

"It is hereby prescribed to the First Directorate of the Immigration Police (Bangkok), the provincial departments of the Immigration Police and the Chiang Sen and Betong land checkpoints (the northernmost and southernmost border checkpoints of Thailand – When leaving Thailand, do not charge fines for staying in the territory of the Kingdom of Thailand beyond the permitted period of stay determined by a visa or visa-free entry from persons of foreign nationality whose permitted period of stay in Thailand expired on or after February 28 and who were unable to leave Thailand due to flight cancellations due to the situation in the region.
