OREANDA-NEWS LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky is alive, he is in hospital in a serious condition. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. Earlier today, Senator Alexander Pronushkin and the Telegram channel Mash reported the death of Zhirinovsky. The information was promptly denied by the Ministry of Health, the State Duma, and the LDPR itself. Pronyushkin apologized and deleted his post on the social network, while the speaker of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, urged him to resign.

"We know that, first of all, someone launched a duck today. This is indecent. Thank God Vladimir Volfovich is alive, he is still in hospital, he is in a serious condition, but under the control of doctors," Peskov said.

Reports on the death of the LDPR leader appeared on March 25 in the Telegram channel Mash and on Alexander Pronushkin's channel. The senator later deleted the publication and apologized.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said Zhirinovsky was alive. "His condition is really serious. Today he had a CT scan," he gave details.

The LDPR has decided to sue over false news about the death of its leader.

"The LDPR categorically refutes the lies about the death of Vladimir Zhirinovsky," the party said in a statement.

The Liberal Democrats "will make every effort to punish the liars who 'buried' Zhirinovsky. The party specified that the politician's condition is stable and has not deteriorated.

"The LDPR is filing an application with the Prosecutor General's Office and preparing lawsuits against all the slanderers," the press service said in a statement.

The LDPR added that "at a time when the country is under stress, when the information background is already heated to the limit," the false reports about the death are "a real anti-state provocation that cannot be let off the hook."

Zhirinovsky is in the Central Clinical Hospital of the Presidential Administration. He was admitted to the Central Clinical Hospital on February 2 after contracting a coronavirus.
