OREANDA-NEWS. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, told in what case Kyiv is ready to discuss refusal from NATO membership. He stressed that the Ukrainian side should receive security guarantees, reports Strana.ua on its Telegram channel.

We are ready for constructive talks on key points. <...> But it is natural that we defend our national statehood, our national rights. And we must receive a clear and specific legally binding set of guarantees for our security in an environment where NATO openly says that there will be no admission of Ukraine,” he said.

Earlier, Zelensky said that he lost interest in the idea of Ukraine joining NATO. According to him, this was facilitated by the understanding that the Alliance is not ready to accept the country into the composition. The Ukrainian leader believes that this is due to NATO's desire to avoid contradictions and confrontation with Russia.

Some time ago, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the majority of Ukrainians want the country to join NATO, despite the objection of some member countries of the Alliance. According to him, if Kyiv succeeds in this matter, then the democratic world will be safe.
