OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian authorities are "deliberately spreading disinformation" by talking about the UK's promised supplies of depleted uranium shells to Ukraine, a representative of the British Ministry of Defense said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that if London really hands over such shells to Kiev, Moscow will be forced to react. "If all this happens, then Russia will have to react accordingly, I mean that the collective West is already beginning to use weapons with a nuclear component," he said.

The British Ministry of Defense responded that the country's army has been using depleted uranium in its shells for "decades." According to the representative of the ministry, scientific studies confirm that any impact from the use of depleted uranium ammunition on human health and the environment is "likely to be low."
