OREANDA-NEWS  Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed that the leader of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is in Belarus. "Yes, indeed, he is in Belarus today," Lukashenko said, quoted by the state agency BelTA.

"As I promised, if you want to stay with us for a while and so on, we will help you. Naturally, for their (Wagnerians - IF) account," the head of Belarus said. He noted that the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic is interested in the experience of the Wagner fighters.

"But, as Khrenin (the Minister of Defense of Belarus - IF) says: "It would not hurt me to have such a unit in the army." I agree. Talk to them," the President of Belarus said. At the same time, he denied information about the construction of camps for Wagnerians, saying that, if necessary, they would be helped with accommodation.

"We are not building any camps yet. But if they want to (as I understand it, they are looking at separate territories), we will place them. Put up tents, please. But for now they are in Lugansk in their camps. And as Prigozhin, who called me yesterday, told me, someone will sign a contract with the Defense Ministry, with Shoigu," Lukashenko said.

"We offered them one of the abandoned parts. Please - there is a fence, everything is there. Set up tents. We will help you in any way we can. For now, they will decide what to do with them," Lukashenko said.

The president also said that there will be no recruitment points for Wagner in Belarus. "If anyone wanted to serve in Wagner... There's one there, by the way. Dima. He gave it to me. One of the leaders of Wagner. Our Belarusian is a former military man. Fine, he says, he serves. We can't tie him up," Lukashenko said.

"That's why we don't need to open any Wagner recruitment points. I think they will never be. At this moment, I believe that we don't need to open any points and there won't be any. And whoever wants to serve there, they will find their way there," the President of Belarus said.
