OREANDA-NEWS President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the people of Moldova on Independence Day. Information about this appeared in the Telegram channel "Pool One".
"I am convinced that, despite the tense international situation, the experience of mutually beneficial cooperation accumulated over three decades will serve as the basis for restoring a full—fledged constructive dialogue," the politician stressed.
According to Lukashenko, the peoples of Belarus and Moldova share a common historical past.
The Republic of Moldova declared independence on August 27, 1991. On this day, the Parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence, declaring the country a sovereign state. Moldova celebrates the 35th anniversary of independence in 2026. Today, Chisinau is pursuing a policy oriented towards the European Union (EU). In April, Moldova announced its withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States, which the republic joined in December 1991.
