President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko discussed the possibility of competing with the United States in space at a meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, the broadcast is available on the website of the First Information TV channel.

"And what will we get from the creation of the Belarusian NASA? Will the effect be comparable to the cost of a new organization and its maintenance?" he suggested.

According to the President of the country, during the Soviet period, the space industry developed in Belarus, which is now controlled by the National Academy of Sciences. Lukashenko considered it possible to create another mechanism for regulating space activities in the republic.
