OREANDA-NEWS Most of the youth protests in Germany are peaceful, and therefore "it is not worth exaggerating." This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in an address to the leadership of his CDU party, Bild reports.
"Most of the young people held peaceful demonstrations, so we shouldn't exaggerate. But after dark, the troublemakers appeared. The police responded superbly, and for this I express my special gratitude to them," he said.
The politician stressed that the police would not show any tolerance towards the instigators of the riots. "The offenders will feel the full force of the law," Merz added.
Earlier, Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, called the unrest in Germany "Merz chaos." "Merz's chaos is due to his unwillingness to admit and correct mistakes," he noted.
