OREANDA-NEWS NATO will hold the largest "Staunch Defender" exercises since the Cold War in the spring of 2024. This is reported by the Financial Times.

It is specified that 500 to 700 air combat sorties will take place at the exercises, more than 50 ships and about 41 thousand military personnel will also be involved. The exercises will take place in Germany, Poland and the Baltic States in February and March as part of a new training strategy, according to which the alliance will conduct two major exercises every year.

The exercises are designed to simulate potential maneuvers against alleged Russian aggression, the material says. In addition, Sweden will take part in the exercises, the total number of countries involved will reach 32.
