OREANDA-NEWS  Armenian security forces have detained Areknaz Manukyan, a member of the board of the opposition Mother Armenia party, said Manuk Sukiasyan, a member of her party.

"A few minutes ago, Areknaz Manukyan, a member of the board of the Mother Armenia party, was arrested. Presumably, they are being detained," Sukiasyan wrote on Facebook*.

At the end of May, a court in Yerevan arrested for two months the leader of the Mother Armenia party, Andranik Tevanyan, whom Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused of treason. The Investigative Committee of Armenia reported that criminal proceedings were initiated against Tevanyan on the grounds of articles "High treason" and "Espionage". The politician called these accusations ridiculous and absurd.

The politician's lawyer, Aram Orbelian, earlier told reporters that there were no grounds for opening a criminal case against Tevanyan. According to him, neither the description of the charge nor the case file contain circumstances related to any other criminal article.
