OREANDA-NEWS  Serbia will not impose sanctions against Russia. This was announced by the Minister for European Integration of the Republic Nemanja Starovich, RIA Novosti reports.

He stressed that his personal position on this issue is consistent with the policy of the Serbian government — as long as it is headed by Juro Matsut, there will be no restrictions against Moscow. According to Starovic, there are three reasons why Serbia will not introduce them.

"Value—based, because we do not believe that sanctions are the right method in international politics. Economic — because the imposition of sanctions will cause serious damage to the Serbian economy. Political — because it would jeopardize relations with Russia, which are traditionally important and valuable to us," he explained.

Earlier, Starovic stated Belgrade's readiness to fully support EU sanctions against Russia when EU membership becomes obvious to the country.

Later, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic noted that Starovic had expressed himself incorrectly.
