Jovanovic added that the current Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, pursues a policy of bringing the country closer to the West, even talking about possible accession to the European Union. According to him, the actions of the head of state are unacceptable.

On June 27, Vucic announced that he was going to step down as president of Serbia in the "coming weeks." His term expired only in May 2027. However, early elections are now due to take place in Serbia in the autumn, at which a new head of state will be elected. At the same time, the outgoing president announced early parliamentary elections. According to him, they should also take place in the fall.
