OREANDA-NEWS Gas supplies via Nord Stream on June 1 increased by almost 10% after a drop the day before due to the windless weather in Europe. This is the data of Nord Stream AG, writes Gazeta.ru.

Gas deliveries to Europe via Nord Stream in the first hour of the gas day on June 1 rose to 6.9 million cubic meters, which is an 8% increase compared to the same period a day earlier. This happens against the background of the reduction of electricity generation from wind in Europe.

On May 31, gas exports from Russia via Nord Stream fell by almost 10%, to 6.4 million cubic meters per hour.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sergei Kolobanov, deputy head of "Economics of Fuel and Energy Sectors" at the Central European Commission said that the European Union will have to look for substitutes for Russian gas in case of reduction or complete stoppage of supplies, considering gas reserves in Africa as an alternative. On the African continent, the main gas reserves are concentrated in Algeria (18% of the total in Africa), Egypt (17%),  Libya (11%) and Nigeria (43%).
