OREANDA-NEWS The primary task of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine is the destruction of nationalist battalions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The presidential spokesman noted that all tasks assigned to the Russian Armed Forces will no doubt be accomplished. Peskov also said that in areas where the National Battalions still remain, "there is a fierce fight going on and they are all subject to destruction there".

Earlier, Federation Council member Andrei Klimov said that the special operation in Ukraine would end soon. Klimov described Ukraine's transformation into a state safe for Russia and the world as a condition for the end of the "military phase. Klimov added that for this purpose Russia must ensure the safety of nuclear facilities and study the work of Ukrainian biolaboratories.

The special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goals assistance to the Donbass republics, as well as the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.
