OREANDA-NEWS The European Commission has called on EU partners to take over financing of Ukraine's increased needs in 2026-2027, saying that it is focused on the loan of 90 billion euros already promised to Kiev and currently has no plans to review the amount of this assistance, EC spokeswoman Paula Pinho said at a briefing in Brussels.
"There is one third (of the financing), which, of course, cannot be covered by the EU and in respect of which we called on our partners to get involved and contribute," Pinho said.
She explained that when developing the loan, the EU proceeded from the total budgetary and defense needs of Ukraine in the amount of about 135 billion euros for 2026-2027. The European Union has committed to cover two-thirds of this amount with a loan of 90 billion euros, while the remaining third was originally to be financed by Kiev's partners.
