OREANDA-NEWS  The European Union (EU) will discuss possible security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as the issue of increasing pressure on Russia during meetings to be held on August 28-30. This was announced by the representative of the Foreign Policy service of the European Union, Anitta Hipper, quoted by RIA Novosti.

"Regarding the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine, discussions are continuing, diplomatic efforts are being made During the informal meetings to be held on August 28-30, we will also discuss what opportunities we have to increase pressure on Russia," she said during a briefing.

According to Hipper, representatives of the European Union also intend to discuss how they can "even more and more effectively" support Kiev.

Earlier it became known that the EU wants to put pressure on Hungary and Slovakia for the adoption of a new 19th package of sanctions against Russia.

On August 22, the EU transferred the next tranches of financial assistance to Kiev totaling 4.05 billion euros as part of a long-term support program designed until 2027.
