OREANDA-NEWS Polish President Karol Nawrocki has received death threats on social media. This is reported by TVP TV channel with reference to Polish officials.
"According to officials, Navrotsky has been the target of death threats on social media for the second time in a week, which comes amid government efforts to tighten laws on online content," the publication said.
It is reported that a few days ago, the police arrested a 19-year-old boy who posted a photo of a pistol with the caption "see you soon, Karolek." The suspect was placed under the supervision of law enforcement officers and received a court order prohibiting him from approaching Navrotsky.
According to the Polish authorities, such incidents indicate the need to accelerate the adoption of legislation that will create tools for the rapid removal of illegal online content, while critics of these initiatives, including Navrotsky himself, warn that they could open the way to censorship.
Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski accused President Nawrocki of wanting to withdraw the republic from the European Union (EU). According to the politician, with statements that European integration is a conspiracy against Poland, Navrotsky is preparing the psychological and political ground for the country's withdrawal from unification.
