OREANDA-NEWS Dmitry Bakanov, CEO of Roscosmos, spoke about the achievements of the rocket and space industry: the launches of the Bion-M biosatellite, the first spacecraft into geostationary orbit from Russia, and artificial intelligence (AI) on the ISS.
"There must be real things behind any celebration. I will tell you about the key achievements of recent times. The Bion-M mission has been successfully completed, which is an important stage in preparation for long-term manned flights," Bakanov said at a solemn event in honor of Cosmonautics Day at the State Kremlin Palace.
He said that the Angara-A5 rocket for the first time launched the device into geostationary orbit from the territory of Russia (previously it was possible only from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan). Bakanov thanked Alexander Golovko, Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces, for this.
The head of the state corporation also recalled the first serial launch of low-orbit broadband Internet access devices.
In total, about 100 spacecraft from three spaceports were launched into orbit in 2025, he said.
Also, according to Bakanov, a National Space Center was opened, and a number of private companies expressed interest in working together.
In November 2025, a Gigachat AI assistant from Sberbank was delivered to the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS).
"An experiment has been launched to integrate artificial intelligence into the work of the crew," Bakanov said.
