The head of the European Commission called the main guarantee of Ukraine's security its accession to the European Union.

OREANDA-NEWS European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen sees Ukraine's membership in the EU as a key guarantee of security.
"Ultimately, the prosperity of a free Ukrainian state depends on joining the EU. This is also a key guarantee of security in itself," the head of the EC wrote on the social network X on Tuesday.
"Today we had a fruitful discussion with European leaders about our support for Ukraine, its security and the reconstruction of the country," von der Leyen said.
According to her, joining the EU benefits not only the countries joining the union. The EC President noted that "the whole of Europe benefits from successive waves of EU enlargement."
