OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first three quarters of 2026, the net loss of the developer of artificial intelligence (AI) Anthropic soared four times in annual terms, to 104.039 billion dollars. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the financial statements of the company.
The diluted loss per share attributable to shareholders of Anthropic increased from $13.9 to $50.1. Separately, in the third quarter, the developer's net loss amounted to $23.291 billion, which is almost three times less than in the second quarter.
For the most part, the increase in losses is due to the revaluation of investor loans that can be exchanged for shares. The higher the cost of the Anthropic, the more expensive these obligations are, but this kind of result is considered "paper" because it does not require immediate cash payments.
The company's revenue increased 13-fold in January-September, to $33.242 billion. Operating expenses in the third quarter rose to $17.523 billion, compared with $233 million a year earlier.
Anthropic was founded in 2021. The company is developing a series of large language models (LLM) by Claude. In the near future, she plans to launch an IPO (initial public offering), which, if successful, could become the largest in history, breaking SpaceX's record.
Earlier it was reported that during the latest round of financing, another AI developer, OpenAI, who is preparing to enter the stock exchange, raised about $ 11 billion, that is, less than half of the 30 billion plan. According to the WSJ, amid increased concerns about the industry, a number of large investors showed only "restrained interest."
