OREANDA-NEWS  The authorities of the European Union (EU) have prepared a draft "White Paper" on defense, which includes a large-scale rearmament plan aimed at "containing Russia". Politico magazine reports on this, citing sources.

According to the document, "the restoration of European defense requires significant investments over a long period".

It is specified that the draft was prepared by Andrius Kubilius, the EU Commissioner for Defense, and Kaja Kallas, the head of European diplomacy. The text states that Russia allegedly poses an "existential threat" to the countries of the association. Therefore, after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, it is planned to create a joint military-industrial complex, increase defense purchases from third countries and increase military assistance to Kiev.

Earlier, the Associated Press (AP) reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had run out of American ATACMS tactical missiles. According to sources in Washington, Kiev had used up all the missiles it was supplied with. It turned out that the Pentagon had only transferred no more than 40 missiles to Ukraine, with the last one being launched at the end of January.
