OREANDA-NEWS  French President Emmanuel Macron announced on his page on the social network X that a minute of silence will be held before the World Cup semi-final between the national teams of France and Spain in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in Nice in 2016.

The politician said that the ceremony will take place before the match on July 14 at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington (Texas, USA). Macron thanked the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, for responding to this request.

The terrorist attack in Nice happened on the evening of July 14, 2016, on Bastille Day: a truck driven by a 31‑year-old Tunisian crashed into a crowd on the Promenade des Anglais. As a result, 85 people were killed and hundreds were injured.

The meeting between the national teams of France and Spain will be held on July 14. It will start at 22:00 Moscow time.
