OREANDA-NEWS  US President Donald Trump is preparing to impose new tariffs on dozens of countries. This is reported by the Financial Times (FT), citing sources.

The American leader has decided to tighten trade with partners again, as global 10 percent tariffs are about to expire. Despite warnings from his advisers who fear economic turmoil ahead of the midterm elections, Trump is ready to introduce them as early as this week.

In February 2026, when the Supreme Court declared the import duties illegal, Washington switched to 10 percent tariffs. These measures expire on Friday, July 24. The new set of duties will be introduced following an investigation into forced labor practices, which will allow Trump to avoid using emergency powers revoked by the Supreme Court. They are expected to range from 10 to 12.5 percent, and they will affect about 60 countries, including the EU, China, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Mexico, Japan and India.
