OREANDA-NEWS  During a video conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky and the leaders of European countries, US President Donald Trump promised not to discuss the issue of the territories of Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is reported by NBC News, citing sources.

"Trump told European leaders during a telephone conversation on Wednesday that he did not intend to discuss possible territorial changes during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska," the publication says.

According to the newspaper's sources, during the conversation, all those present, including Trump, agreed that Ukraine should take an active part in the negotiations and decide for itself what territorial concessions it is ready to make.

A video conference with the participation of the President of the United States and the leaders of European countries took place on August 13. It was reported that the call was held in the strictest secrecy due to the fear of wiretapping by "Russian spies."

The meeting between Trump and Putin will take place on August 15 at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage, Alaska.
