OREANDA-NEWS. The official representative of President Tayyip Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalyn, called Russia's demands to recognize the annexation of Crimea and the independence of the DPR and LPR unrealistic. It is reported by CNN.

“The most difficult topics [at the talks], of course, relate to the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which must be protected. The Ukrainian side cannot compromise on Crimea and Donbass. (...) These are very maximalist demands that are unrealistic. (...) This directly concerns the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” Kalyn said.

At the same time, Erdogan's representative said that Moscow does not trust NATO, and only Turkey from the members of the alliance adheres to neutrality, which makes dialogue in this country possible. According to Kalyn, Russian President Vladimir Putin listens to Erdogan.

On February 24, Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.

Earlier, Kalyn said that all states should feel safe, including Russia. He added that it is necessary to carefully study all the causes of the ongoing crisis.
