OREANDA-NEWS  Two power units of the Zaporozhye NPP have been switched to the "hot shutdown" mode, adviser to the CEO of Rosenergoatom Renat Karchaa said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

This means that the reactors are warmed up to a state that allows generating thermal energy. "There is a heat transfer, heat enters the heat supply system of the city. Of course, the temperature leaves much to be desired. Nuclear scientists are doing everything they can in these conditions," Karchaa said.

Earlier, the fifth and sixth power units were put into a state of "cold shutdown" due to problems with power supply after the Ukrainian shelling. Four more units of the nuclear power plant are still in the same mode. The NPP receives electricity through two high-voltage lines from the Ukrainian side, which are regularly and, as a rule, simultaneously disconnected. Rosatom announced that they would create a backup power source for the station — by restoring the open switchgear of the Zaporozhye TPP. Earlier, the Russian side had already tried to do this, but the APU fired at the thermal power plant.
