OREANDA-NEWS  The Victory Rally started on Tuesday in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos. In the capital, this was preceded by the laying of wreaths at the monument to the fallen in World War II, a TASS correspondent reports from the event.

The Russian Ambassador to Cyprus Murat Zyazikov came to the ceremony with a photo of his grandfather, Mohammed Ismailovich Zyazikov, who defended the Ingush town of Malgobek from German invaders during the war, which in 2007 was awarded the status of a city of military glory by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation.

Car convoys from all cities will gather in Limassol and a common column will pass with Russian flags in the city where the largest number of Russian compatriots live.

The events will end with the action "Immortal Regiment" in Limassol, a concert of professional and amateur groups of Russia and Cyprus, as well as a festive salute. There are field kitchens and fairs at all sites. According to the organizers, more than 5 thousand people are expected to participate. Much attention is paid to security measures.
