Von der Leyen: the next tranche of the EU loan to Ukraine will amount to 3.2 billion euros

OREANDA-NEWS The next tranche of the EU loan to Ukraine, from which Kiev will be able to pay for the supply of Patriot components, will amount to 3.2 billion euros, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday.
"The next tranche of 3.2 billion euros will allow Ukraine to better protect its skies," von der Leyen wrote on the social network.
The head of the European Commission also said that EU countries, as an exception, allow Ukraine to purchase components for Patriot air defense systems with a loan.
According to the European Commission, 8.47 billion euros have actually been transferred to Ukraine as part of the defense part of the loan: 3.9 billion on June 30, 1.1 billion on July 15 and 3.47 billion on July 30.
The EU has agreed on a loan to Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros for 2026-2027, of which about 60 billion are intended for military needs.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are "playing with fire." The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
