OREANDA-NEWS  Yandex has dropped its lawsuit against the British automaker Jaguar Land Rover in the Intellectual Property Rights Court, filed in order to remove obstacles to the registration of the Yandex Rover, Yandex Rover and Rover brands, according to materials reviewed by RIA Novosti.

The reasons for the refusal have not yet been announced, but the parties have repeatedly stated in court that they are negotiating a peaceful settlement of the dispute.

The plaintiff requested to terminate the legal protection of 42 trademarks of the defendant in Russia due to their non-use.

Earlier, Yandex submitted applications to Rospatent for registration of three of its designations as trademarks, but the agency notified him that they were similar to the trademarks of the British company "with respect to the corresponding homogeneous product/service items."
Among the competing trademarks of Jaguar Land Rover, there are five international ones – Land Rover, Range Rover, Rover 75, Road Rover, Land Rover G4 Challenge – and 37 Russian ones with verbal elements of Land Rover, Rover, Range Rover, Land Rover, Jaguar Land Rover Experience, Land Rover Finance and others.

After that, in February, Yandex filed this lawsuit with the court.

Earlier, the court's press service told RIA Novosti that at a meeting in April, the plaintiff requested a postponement of the meeting, referring to negotiations for a peaceful settlement. After that, the hearings were postponed several times.

At a meeting in July, the plaintiff's representative stated that "the parties are currently in the final stages of negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the dispute."
