OREANDA-NEWS President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had been invited to the inauguration of his American counterpart Donald Trump. He said this in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, his words are quoted by the publication "Страна.иа ".

Zelensky noted that he was invited to the event "in the most general terms." He explained that he had decided not to go because his presence would be inappropriate. The head of state indicated that he wanted to discuss the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict with Trump, but then the American politician "had his own problems on the agenda."

"This is probably one of the most important days in his life, in the life of the American people, and I think it was just not very appropriate for me to come. He didn't have time for a personal meeting," Zelensky said.

Trump himself has stated that he did not invite Zelensky to his inauguration. At the same time, he noted that if the president of Ukraine himself wants to attend the event, he will not prevent it.
