OREANDA-NEWS  Argentina may join the New BRICS Development Bank as early as August of this year. This was reported by the Télam agency with reference to the head of the bank Dilma Rousseff.

"The head of the NBR informed the Minister of Economy (Argentina) Sergio Massa that the board of directors of the organization allowed a vote on the issue of Argentina's accession to this institution at the next meeting," the article says.

The proposal will be discussed at a meeting of the bank's governors in early August in South Africa.

In addition, the Tunisian authorities said that the country is considering joining the BRICS group due to stalled negotiations with the IMF.

In April, State Duma deputy Dmitry Novikov said that Argentina is one of the largest Latin American countries with great economic potential. The state's participation in the BRICS could help the union better defend its positions and interests in the international arena, the politician also noted.
