OREANDA-NEWS The cost of science by 2030 should be at least 2% of GDP, and Russia has a good foundation for the industry, according to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Chernyshenko made such a statement on Tuesday following the results of the strategic session of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin "The Model of science development".
"By 2030, science expenditures in our country should be at least 2% of GDP, including through private business investments. This amount will amount to more than 6 trillion rubles. We have a good foundation. As Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin (Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - ed.) emphasized today, Russia is historically one of the strongest scientific powers," Chernyshenko said, quoted by the office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Chernyshenko noted that in Russia today there are more than 340 thousand researchers and 4 thousand scientific organizations throughout the country.
"We are ranked eighth in the world in terms of research and development. That's a high bar. It is important to maintain and strengthen our positions," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
