In Russia, two types of banknotes have become more common

OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, the number of counterfeit money in circulation fell by 20 percent to 6,565 units over the year. This was announced by the Central Bank.
According to him, in 2025, there was only one counterfeit per million banknotes. At the same time, 62 percent of the detected fakes accounted for five thousand banknotes, and 31 percent for banknotes with a face value of 1,000 rubles.
The largest number of counterfeit money was detected in the Central, Southern and Northwestern Federal Districts.
However, the number of counterfeit banknotes from other countries jumped by 44 percent. A total of 2,703 forgeries were identified. Basically, counterfeiters preferred to draw dollars.
In the spring of 2025, it was reported that counterfeit dollars in Russia are forged 100 times more often than euros. At the same time, in the fall of 2024, the number of counterfeit dollars in Russia fell to a historic low.
