OREANDA-NEWS  Annual inflation in Russia decreased from April 29 to May 5 from 10.34 to 10.21 percent. This is stated in the review of the current price situation published by the Ministry of Economic Development (MAYOR) of the Russian Federation.

The weekly price increase, which reached 0.2 percent at the end of March, slowed to 0.03 percent, according to the materials. At the same time, the annual inflation rate, which was 10.2 percent a month and a half ago, remained almost unchanged compared to March.

The ministry noted that pasta and cereals fell in price in Russia last week, prices in the non—food segment decreased by 0.12 percent, cucumbers fell by 8 percent week by week, and tomatoes by 4 percent. "The rise in prices for potatoes, cabbage and onions has slowed down, and bananas have continued to fall in price," the MAYOR also said.

In early April, the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, noted that weekly data on price growth in Russia suggest that its slowdown will not stop. "Inflation is decreasing if we look at monthly rates," she stressed at the time.
