Russia and Uzbekistan have reached settlements in national currencies at the level of 75%

OREANDA-NEWS More than 75% of mutual trade settlements between Uzbekistan and Russia are carried out in national currencies, said Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Jamshid Khojaev.
The 26th meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Uzbek commission for economic cooperation is being held in Tashkent on Wednesday. Khodjaev is the co-chairman of the commission.
"According to our colleagues, more than 75% of mutual settlements between Uzbekistan and Russia are carried out in national currencies," he said.
Khodjaev called this indicator a "serious step," and believes that "it needs to be consolidated by developing payment channels, integrating systems, and increasing cybersecurity and compliance.
"Against the background of geopolitical turbulence, Denis Valentinovich (Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - ed.) and I have been putting this on the agenda all the time: the sustainability of payment infrastructure and digital services is becoming one of the key topics," Khodjaev added.
