OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Football Union (RFU) will receive almost 4 million euros from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the clubs' non-participation in European competitions. This is reported on the UEFA website.

The RFU will receive 3.83 million euros from UEFA. The money will be transferred as part of the solidarity payments program to clubs not participating in European Cup tournaments.

The amount of payments consists of two parts: 70 percent is determined by the country's position in the UEFA ranking, and another 30 percent is proportional to the income of the club that received more than other representatives of a particular national organization in European competitions. The money should go to the clubs of the top division that skip the general stages of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, and be distributed among them in equal shares.

Russian clubs and national teams have been banned from international tournaments since 2022. Because of this, clubs do not participate in European competitions, and the national team is forced to play only friendly matches.
