OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of 2024, the number of credit reports received by Russians increased by 38 percent compared to the figure for 2023. This is reported in the review of the Central Bank (CB).

During the reporting period, the number of individual credit rating certificates increased significantly. Over the past 12 months, the number of submitted reports has increased by 22 percent year-on-year, the regulator said.

During this time, users of credit histories (banks, MFIs and other financial organizations) have received 29 percent more reports than in 2023. Such information, the Central Bank explained, allows creditors to reduce the amount of overdue debt in their portfolio and provide loans to the most solvent categories of citizens.

Earlier, the head of the regulator, Elvira Nabiullina, announced a gradual cooling of lending in both the private and corporate sectors. In July-December 2024, according to the Central Bank, the number of borrowers in Russian banks and MFIs decreased by 500,000 people, to 50.1 million.

The self-locking service for loans also contributed to reducing the credit burden. The vast majority of citizens who used such a service in March 2025 chose the option of completely refusing to receive loans from banks and MFIs remotely and in person.
