OREANDA-NEWS  Russians' spending on consumer goods in December increased by 3% compared to November and amounted to 48.3% of total costs, according to the data of the Romir study, which was reviewed by RIA Novosti.

"In December, FMCG goods accounted for 48.3% of Russians' expenses. This is 3% (1.4 percentage points) more than in November (46.9%). Compared to the same period last year, the index is 2.2% higher. In December 2021, the annual growth of the index was 2.5%, and in December 2020 – 2.6%," follows from the calculations of the monthly FMCG Index.

The holding notes that the costs of FMCG characterize the level of well-being of the population, since this item of expenditure is necessarily present in the budget of any household.

"In December, we traditionally note an increase in spending on everyday goods, but this year's New Year's Eve purchases turned out to be slightly more modest than in previous ones. This is due to the savings strategies that Russians adhere to," the words of Ksenia Paizanskaya, director of the M-Romir business direction, are quoted in the message.
