OREANDA-NEWS   In the year coming up to the end of 2025, Rambler&Co media holding asked Internet users how they plan to manage their finances in 2026 - to save or spend their savings. In addition, the respondents were asked to predict the exchange rate of popular currencies, which revealed general expectations regarding the stability of the ruble. A similar survey was conducted two years ago, and a comparison of the data with forecasts for 2024 showed certain shifts in behavior.

In 2026, the majority of respondents plan to maintain a balance between spending and savings, 57 percent said. Two years ago, 51 percent followed the same strategy, which means that the trend towards finding the golden mean has strengthened. At the same time, the share of those who plan to spend more decreased from 28 percent to 22 percent, while the number of convinced "savers" remained stable at 21 percent.

The usual tools are in the lead among the ways of saving: 32 percent will leave money in the account, 29 percent will make a deposit, and 25 percent will keep cash. In the plans for 2024, the figures were similar — 33 percent, 29 percent and 28 percent, respectively. However, interest in the currency has changed slightly during this time: in 2024 it was planned to buy 10 percent, and in 2026 — 7 percent.

Next year, the main item of expenditure will remain the same — basic necessities — 37 percent (41 percent in forecasts for 2024), trips and trips are planned by 13 percent, repairs and purchases of household appliances — 11 percent. 7 percent choose investments "in themselves" in 2026, and 2 percent choose investments in business.

As for income for 2025, more than half of Russians said that it had remained or increased. In particular, 35 percent of the respondents retained it, 26 percent had a slight increase, and 19 percent reported a sharp drop. Income decreased slightly for 17 percent, while income increased significantly for three percent.

Currencies are not expected to grow strongly against the ruble next year. The figure of 90/100 rubles per dollar/ euro in 2026 is predicted by 30 percent of the survey participants (in 2024 — 28 percent), 80/90 rubles — 29 percent (24 percent two years earlier). Expectations for the exchange rate of 100/110 rubles per dollar/euro decreased from 29 percent to 20 percent. At the same time, interest in the yuan has increased markedly, from 5 percent to 10 percent, indicating a gradual shift in attention to Asian currencies.

The survey was conducted on the resources of the Rambler&Co media holding from November 5 to November 10, 2025, reaching 195,236 Internet users, including 59 percent of men and 41 percent of women.
