OREANDA-NEWS  The rapid penetration of online commerce has led to an increase in impulsive purchases in Russia, said Mikhail Mamuta, head of the Consumer Protection and Financial Services Accessibility Service, member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia.

"Due to the rapid penetration of online into sales and consumption, the share of non-standard forms of consumption began to grow rapidly. We have identified as many as five forms of consumption, and we see an increase in impulsive purchases, when people buy at the moment," Mamuta said at the TOLK–2026 forum.

According to him, not only impulsivity has increased, but also compulsive consumption. In addition, Russians began to strive more for status consumption: "I want to have such a phone, because my friend has such a phone."
