OREANDA-NEWS  The EU will evaluate China's decision on the final imposition of duties on European brandy and decide on further steps, European Commission spokesman Olof Gilles said at a briefing in Brussels.

"The EU regrets China's decision to impose final anti-dumping measures on brandy imports from the EU to China. We were notified of this decision today. We have been following this investigation very closely from the very beginning. Our opinion has been unchanged and very firm from the very beginning. We believe that China's measures are unfair. We believe they are unjustified. We believe that they contradict the applicable international rules and, therefore, are unfounded," he said.

According to him, the EC will now "carefully study these measures and evaluate further steps in order to best protect the EU industry and the EU's economic interests."

Starting from July 5, China will impose anti-dumping duties on imported brandy produced in the European Union for a period of five years, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.

The corresponding duties are imposed for a period of five years, and their amount will be determined based on the taxable price of imported goods.
The ministry explained that anti-dumping duties will not be applied retroactively to brandy from the EU imported from October 11, 2024 to July 4, 2025, as well as before the introduction of temporary anti-dumping measures.
