OREANDA-NEWS The European Union (EU) has indefinitely blocked Russia's frozen assets. This is stated in a statement, Reuters reported on Friday, December 12.
"The European Union on Friday agreed to indefinitely freeze the assets of the Central Bank of Russia stored in Europe, thereby removing a serious obstacle to the use of these funds to assist Ukraine," the statement said.
On the eve it became known that Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy and Malta supported the indefinite freezing of Russian assets. It was clarified that this vote under no circumstances cancels the decision on the possible use of frozen Russian assets, which should be taken at the level of the leaders of the EU member states.
