OREANDA-NEWS  The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva said that 2023 will be a difficult year for the global economy, based on the forecasts of the fund. She said this during a speech at the Boaos Asian Forum in China, the text of which is published on the IMF website.

"The world economy has been in a turbulent situation for quite a long time, experiencing shock after shock. We expect that 2023 will be another difficult year," Georgieva said.

She added that the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the tightening of monetary policies in the world, continue to affect the pace of global GDP growth, which is projected to be less than 3% this year.

At the end of January, the IMF improved the forecast for the development of the Russian economy, predicting Russia's GDP growth by 0.3% in 2023 and by 2.1% next year.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, in turn, said that the fall in Russian GDP at the end of last year was not as strong as experts predicted.
