OREANDA-NEWS The US budget deficit in the fiscal year ended September 30, 2025, most of which fell during the presidency of Donald Trump, decreased to $1.775 trillion, which is 2.3 percent less than in the previous year. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Ministry of Finance of the country.

During the reporting period, both expenses and incomes of the United States increased, but spending still increased at a slower pace than income. The first indicator rose by 4.01 percent, to 7.01 trillion dollars, while the second — by 6.4 percent, to 5.235 trillion.

At the same time, in September, due to a sharp (by 22.6 percent, to $ 345.7 billion) drop in government spending, the US budget surplus reached almost 200 billion, according to the materials.

The White House considers import tariffs, which have increased since April of this year, one of the tools to combat the deficit. So, in mid-July, the additional revenue from them was already estimated at $ 47 billion. Later, Trump himself announced that the United States would receive more than a trillion dollars a year from duties, against which background he called the country the richest in the world.
