OREANDA-NEWS A $40 billion aid package to Ukraine will soon be approved by the US House of Representatives, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing Democratic Party sources. Prior to this, the White House asked Congress to allocate $ 33 billion for these needs.

The House of Representatives plans to vote this week on a nearly $40 billion aid package for Ukraine.

Prior to this, the US administration sent a request to Congress to agree on assistance to Kyiv in the amount of $33 billion for the current fiscal year, which ends on October 1.

Of these, $20.4 billion should go "for additional assistance in the military and security sphere" to Ukraine, the remaining $8.5 billion is addressed as economic assistance to Kyiv.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden signed a law on lend-lease for Ukraine, which simplifies the provision of military assistance to it. Congress expects that the law approved by both chambers will simplify and speed up the provision of military assistance to Kyiv. The bill was introduced by Texas Senator John Cornyn.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the signing of this document a "historic step". He turned to the American president and thanked him for this decision. He also noted the support given by the people of the United States.
