OREANDA-NEWS The jubilee fifth Grand Prix of Azerbaijan will be held from June 10 to 12 on the city highway in Baku. In total, Formula 1 competitions will be held on this track for the sixth time. In 2016, they were called the Grand Prix of Europe. This is reported by the portal Bakucitycircuit.com.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2022 will be the eighth of the season. The length of the city highway in Baku is 6003 meters. The winner will be the one who first passes 51 laps — 306 049 meters. The Baku Grand Prix is one of the five city races in the season, along with Monaco, Singapore, Australia and Canada.

In previous years, Sergio Perez of Red Bull (2021), Valteri Bottas (Mercedes, 2019), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, 2018) and Daniel Ricciardo (2017, Red Bull) have won. In 2020, the Grand Prix was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the current Formula 1 season, two Grand Prix were held: in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The first was won by Charles Leclair from Ferrari, the second by Max Verstappen from Red Bull — the current world champion.
