OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian national football team will perform at the first international tournament after being suspended by the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). This was reported to Match TV by the press secretary of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Faridun Saliev.

"The Russian national team will take part in the first Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) championship with the participation of men's national teams, which will be held from June 9 to 21 this year," he said. As it became known, all six members of the association will play at the tournament, namely Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. In addition, another Asian team will be invited to participate.

In March, the Russian national team will play two friendly matches. On March 23, a game against the Iranian team will take place in Tehran. On March 26, the national team will host the Iraqi team in St. Petersburg.

On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian national teams and clubs from the draws of international tournaments. Domestic clubs do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team was deprived of the opportunity to compete for the final part of the 2022 World Cup.
