OREANDA-NEWS. President of the Kontinental Hockey Leagu (KHL), Aleksey Morozov, spoke about the possible appearance of new clubs in the tournament.

He recalled that in the current situation in the world caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it is difficult to make specific decisions. According to Morozov, it is impossible to assess the situation with infrastructure of the clubs using video communication. No expansion is planned for the season of 2020–2021. “Now there is a specific interest from Hungary, Korea and the Emirates. …The matter is still at the stage of conversation, and it is still far from making decisions,” Morozov said.

In the 2020–2021 season, 23 teams will compete in the KHL; 18 of them are Russian.
